Take a moment from time to time to remember that you are alive. I know this sounds a trifle obvious, but it is amazing how little time we take to remark upon this singular and gratifying fact.
The love of family and the admiration of friends is much more important than wealth and privilege.

A Daily Zen Bonus
Thirty-two years ago today American singer-songwriter Harry Chapin was killed in a car crash at just thirty-eight years of age. Thinking about Harry's untimely got me thinking about the love of family and friends, and it inspired the choice of today's daily zen.
Take a couple of moments to celebrate Harry's life by giving a listen to his biggest hit song...then call your mom or dad or brother or sister, or maybe your lover or your very best friend, and tell 'em how much you love 'em.
Humans are by nature too complicated to be understood fully.
So, we can choose either to approach our fellow human beings with suspicion or to approach them with an open mind, a dash of optimism and a great deal of candour.
